Artwell Gallery and Community Arts Center, described as the "vital heart of Torrington's burgeoning arts scene" by Connecticut Magazine, is a non-profit arts organization which produces exciting art exhibitions and performances. Artwell also offers art classes and workshops for aspiring artists of all ages.

Among the numerous happenings are the "Now Hear This" popular open-mike programs, poetry readings, puppetry performances, special concerts, the "Extemely Off Broadway" performance series, and the annual regatta and picnic featuring the Rubber Ducky Race.

The gallery has recently expanded to its new location at 19 Water Street.  It is within easy walking distance of the Nutmeg Ballet, the Warner Theater, and the small antiques and specialty shops that set the tone for cultural appreciation in the City.
