The Inland Wetland Department operates out of the Land Use office in Torrington City Hall.  The office is responsible for enforcing theTorrington Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Regulations and to review all land use application for the applicability of those regulations.  Any activity that takes place within 75 feet of a wetland soil type or 100 feet of a watercourse as described within the Inland Wetlands Regulations require a permit from the IW Commission.
The Inland Wetlands Officer works at the pleasure of the Inland Wetlands Commission who is solely responsible for the content and required permitting proceedures under the regulations.
