FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS PROGRAM
The Torrington Fire Department has a lock box program. With this program, the Fire Department will have a master key for lock boxes, and this key will be locked on the engine. The key will only be able to be unlocked by radio and the time will be recorded by dispatching when it is out of the engine.
We now have a policy that if there is no smoke showing we wait for a key holder. If the Fire Department thinks there is a fire, they will force entry into the building, which will consequently create damage. This program will enable the Torrington Fire Department to provide the City of Torrington building owner a much higher level of service.
